About BandarSeriBegawan.com

An independent guide to Brunei’s capital, for people who want more than a stopover.

BandarSeriBegawan.com exists to help you get the most out of Brunei’s capital — not just what to see, but how to get around without a car, which tours are worth it, which area to sleep in, what the local rules mean in practice and how to reach the rainforest for a day.

Independent, not official. This site is not run by, endorsed by or affiliated with the Government of Brunei Darussalam, its tourism department or any tourism board. It is a privately published travel guide.

What we cover

  • How to get in from the airport and around the city by Dart, bus, water taxi and rental car, and overland to Malaysian Borneo.
  • Which tours are worth booking, ranked honestly and updated as ratings change.
  • What to see — the two great mosques, Kampong Ayer, the Royal Regalia Museum, the markets, the river and more.
  • Day trips to Ulu Temburong National Park, Jerudong, Muara, Tutong and Seria.
  • Local laws and etiquette, where to stay, area by area, and when to come.

How we research

Prices, opening days and journey times are checked against operators, transport providers and booking platforms, and reviewed regularly. Tour ratings and review counts come directly from GetYourGuide; hotel scores from Trip.com. Where a figure moves around — fares, entrance fees, visiting hours — we give a range and say so, rather than pretending to a precision that does not exist.

Where we express an opinion, it is an opinion. We tell you when a trip is strenuous, when a cheaper option is the better one, and when a product has too few reviews to judge.

How the site is funded

We are a GetYourGuide affiliate partner and a Trip.com partner. If you book a tour or a room through a link on this site, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That is the only way this guide is funded — there is no advertising, no sponsored placements and no paid inclusion in any ranking. Read the full affiliate disclosure.

Corrections

Prices change, rules change, opening hours shift. If something here is out of date or wrong, please tell us — we would rather fix it than defend it. Write to us on the contact page.

Plan your Brunei days

Turn a stopover in Bandar Seri Begawan into the surprise of your Borneo trip

Stand under the golden dome of the Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque, cross to Kampong Ayer by water taxi, look for proboscis monkeys in the mangroves at dusk and climb above the rainforest canopy in Ulu Temburong. Compare the available experiences and book in a couple of taps.
